In the late sixties it seems BMW was not
about to miss a combination. They already had the four door 2000 with the
two litre engine and the 1800TI with twin Solex carbs and improved suspension.
Combine the larger engine with the improved induction and suspension and
you get the 2000TI.
This was a nice plan--essentially zero development cost yields a brand
new performance model.
