Both the 1600 and 2002 two door sedans
were enhanced by ti versions. The ti stood for touring international, and
the main distinction was twin Solex two barrell carbs to replace the single
one barrell carb that was standard. Both models also came with improved
suspensions as well as a clock in the dash board.
Neither car was ever officially imported into the United States because
of polution regulations. Significantly, the restrictions against the 1600ti
prompted Max Hoffman to suggest to BMW AG that they build the 2002.
